{"id":88,"date":"2006-03-16T22:18:54","date_gmt":"2006-03-16T22:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.reactivated.net\/weblog\/?p=88"},"modified":"2006-08-30T03:23:08","modified_gmt":"2006-08-30T03:23:08","slug":"dpfp-01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reactivated.net\/weblog\/archives\/2006\/03\/dpfp-01\/","title":{"rendered":"dpfp 0.1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A bit later than anticipated, I have created initial releases for the <a href=\"http:\/\/dpfp.berlios.de\">dpfp<\/a> project, a driver for DigitalPersona and Microsoft USB fingerprint readers.<\/p>\n<p>My last attempt at the driver\/library thing failed &#8211; I learned more about the device, and decided I should take a few steps back and work with a different design.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the rewrite is working out, so I&#8217;m releasing an early version for people to try. The driver provides a simple character device interface, and the library provides a nice API to that interface. libdpfp includes an <a href=\"http:\/\/svn.berlios.de\/viewcvs\/dpfp\/trunk\/libdpfp\/examples\/capture_finger.c?view=markup\">example program<\/a> which you can use to scan your fingerprint to a PGM file.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t for general usage yet. There are basic instructions in the README file in the dpfp-driver distribution.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions, please don&#8217;t ask them in comments on my weblog, use the <a href=\"http:\/\/dpfp.berlios.de\/wikka.php?wakka=MailingList\">mailing list<\/a> instead.
