Yes, Java Lucene can open beagle’s data store. You’d have to clone lots of beagle’s infrastructure to make sense of the data though. The other (better?) option is to combine Java with Mono, see http://www.mono-project.com/Java

Does anyone know if you can index using Beagle and search using Java Lucene? That would be cool for us Java programmers

A shame you couldn’t get sqlite3 in the mix. It has a host of neat improvements, helpful to the programmer.
