Hi,
I recently installed pam_fprint under Fedora 8 (thanks pingou for
packaging that) and I can say that I'm generally impressed. I did some
testing (I have an UPEK TouchStrip reader). Things that work:
- GDM (although the requirement to click OK could be removed)
- console login
- using pam_fprint to switch to root (su)
- gnome-screensaver
Problems:
- The following error messages appear when pam_fpront is used in console:
upekts:error [read_msg] non-zero bytes in cmd response
upekts:error [read_msg28] expected response, got -1 seq=0
Looks like it is harmless, though.
- system-config-* tools, and generally all tools asking for root
password graphically do not display the dialog. This is a regression
with respect to thinkfinger. Despite the lack of dialog, swiping the
finger will bring the started program up.
Regards,
Julian
